Grants for Teachers Program

Grants for Teachers provides individual grants of up to $500 directly to Chenango County educators to assist with the inclusion of arts-related projects or events into their standard curriculum. Awarded annually, the program involves submission of an application detailing the project, and requires a budget, itemized wish-list, potential benefit to students, and number of students potentially reached, and if a prior applicant, a final report outlining the previous year’s project outcome. 

Last year, the Grants for Teachers program awarded a total of over $6,000 to 15 Chenango County teachers in Norwich, Greene, Otselic Valley, Sherburne-Earlville, Gibson, and Oxford school districts. More than 1,200 students in Pre-K through 12th grade, including those in special education programs, were given the opportunity to explore engaging and creative learning experiences. Topics ranged from “Unleashing our Inner Explorers” and an “Under the Sea Adventure” to Advanced Ceramics classes, using light boxes in the Science Room, and new tools for the Drama Club Scene Shop.
