Called by Shepard "a love ballad, a little legend about love" and by others, Shepard's masterpiece and possibly his most romantic play, A Lie of the Mind depicts two families shaken by sudden violence and their journey toward healing. Filled with humor and heartbreak, emotionally raw and sometimes devastating, this landmark play is by turns aching and hilarious and always as lyrical as a country song.
