Friday, October 18 at 5:30 p.m. in the Mariea Brown and Raymond Loft Galleries, Mark Picone brings you a photographic retrospective about summer's end and the remnants of the beautiful flowers and plants we enjoyed all season. Says Picone, "My series called “Gone, But Still Beautiful“ is different from the usual flower images we see, this series gives an up close view of the natural beauty found in some plants after winter has taken their last bit of life; interesting geometric shapes, patterns, and textures of the leaves, seeds and seed pods. Some photographs were taken in-situ, while others were photographed in my studio under artificial lighting.I have converted these images to black and white because I believe this gives each image a stronger tonal value over the browns, yellows, and even the blacks that we would normally see in a color image" Opening reception is free and open to the public with refreshments provided by The Cottage Bakery, located at The Artist's Palette in Norwich, NY.
