 he April Verch Band featuring world-class musicians Cody Walters and Alex 
 Rubin\, October 13 at 8 PM\, sponsored by NBT Bank of Earlville. Fiddler\,
  singer\, and stepdancer April Verch knows how relevant an old tune can be
 . She was raised surrounded by living\, breathing roots music—her father’s
  country band rehearsing\; the lively music at church and at community dan
 ces\; the tunes she rocked out to win fiddle competitions. She thought eve
 ry little girl learned to stepdance at the age of three and fiddle at the 
 age of six. She knew nothing else and decided early on that she wanted to 
 be a professional musician. Cody Walters started playing upright bass whil
 e attending college at the University of Kansas in 1999. The sound of the 
 instrument grabbed hold of him and never let go. He has since played in va
 rious bands\, performing different styles of music\, from bluegrass to old
 -time\, jazz to Latin\, folk and country and most spots in between. Alex R
 ubin is a Boston-based guitarist and educator. At the age of 17\, Alex tur
 ned his musical interests from classical violin to bluegrass guitar\, and 
 has yet to reconsider. After completing an undergraduate biology degree at
  Cornell University in 2011\, he returned to the vibrant Boston music blue
 grass scene\, studying privately with Berklee professor John McGann. In 20
 14\, Alex started the folk duo\, No Bones About It\, with banjoist BB Bown
 ess. The April Verch Band will perform at the Earlville Opera House Octobe
 r 13 at 8 PM. Tickets are $22 general\, $17 members\, and $11 students/you
