 land? This is the first session of 'The Artist As Naturalist' a 3 part ser
 ies which focuses in art as a personal experience with nature\, and how on
 e's own individual experiences influence artistic creation. 'Field Sketchi
 ng: DOn't Be Afraid to Go In the Woods' is designed for those who are just
  beginning with drawing or those who are looking for a refresher\, instruc
 tional emphasis will be on analysis of basic shapes and forms\, value\, an
 d capturing the essence of the subject. Guided practice with drawing media
  and observational techniques will precede the onsite work. Artists will h
 ave opportunities to explore subjects of choice in two different settings 
 within the trail system at Rogers Center. The role of the sketchbook from 
 a historic standpoint in aiding the works of the artist such as Winslow Ho
 mer and the Hudson River School of Art members will be introduced. $10-$12
