"Gianni Schicchi" by Giacomo Puccini
A charming tale of love and deception, the story of this one-act opera centers around a wealthy man's will and the scheme hatched by his family to inherit his money. Wanting to marry his beloved Lauretta, Rinuccio finds himself caught in the middle of his family's jealousy and greed. He seeks the advice of Gianni Schicchi, Lauretta's father. Schicchi is persuaded to help Rinuccio after Lauretta sings her famous aria, "O mio babbino caro". The events which follow are truly comedic. This opera is sure to delight all audiences with its amusing plot and beautiful music.
